Camp Prep
Time to get ready for camp? You can refer to the recommended clothing and equipment list, but here is some more information that will help you to prepare.
Camp has all of the amenities of modern life, while mixing in the adventure of the wilderness. Main camp has both flush toilets and electricity, however camper cabins do not. For those late night bathroom runs, when main camp might seem a bit too far off, there are outhouses close to every section of camper cabins. Days are hot, but nights can be cool, so be sure to pack a warm blanket, and some cozy pajamas!
Campers will have laundry service once every ten days or so. Usually this is after the canoe trip is finished, and depending on how long the session is, at another time during the month. There are huge washers and dryers at Ahmek, so the laundry turn-around is only one day!
Campers need to be prepared for the rugged nature of camp, as well as the variety of conditions which they might encounter. Our clothing list is based upon years of experience. Please note that each piece of clothing sent to camp should be clearly labeled with the campers first and last name. Contact us at our Business Office if you have any questions about getting ready for the summer.
