Bantam

Salutations from the scintillating shores of Statten’s summer camp,

My name is Jack Keenan. I will be assuming the role of Bantam Section Director for the August session. I would have loved nothing more than to spend my entire summer on the shores of Canoe Lake, however I was busy locking up some of Baltimore, Maryland’s hardest criminals during my internship with the Baltimore City State’s Attorney’s Office. Needless to say, I cannot begin to tell you how excited I am to get out of the office and soak up all of the sun Northern Ontario has to offer.

For the past twelve years I have called the northern end of Canoe Lake my summer home. I came to camp in 1999 as an eager ten year old boy looking to get into trouble. By the time my camper career came to an end in 2005, I was a seasoned young man ready to take on any challenge. That next challenge would be as a staff member at TSC. From 2006-2010, I held pretty much every job at camp imaginable from activity head to section director. Though this past summer was supposed to be my last, I could not resist the call of the loon. The opportunity to spend a month with great friends and exuberant children is one I simply could not pass up.

In the off-season, I spend my time chasing knowledge at Syracuse University in upstate New York. I major in Broadcast and Digital Journalism as well as United States History. If everything goes according to plan, I should finish up at Syracuse next spring and move on to the next part of my life. Perhaps I will move back home to the streets of Baltimore, Maryland or maybe I will try something a little more adventurous. Who knows what the future has in store? But at the present, I can guarantee your son will have a summer to remember at Camp Ahmek.
