Wendy Noreen Ward-Price Gunn
WARD-PRICE GUNN, Wendy Noreen on Sunday, December 2, 2007 in her 69th year after a valiant battle with cancer. Her love, guidance and strength will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Heather Ward-Price and best friend and companion Putter. She was predeceased by her loving husband Robert Gunn, parents Noreen and Ben Ward-Price and sister Pamela. She will be remembered for her love of competitive swimming and skating at the Granite Club, tennis, golf and skiing and all her volunteer work which included teaching Handicapped Children swimming for the Red Cross, an examiner for the Royal Life Saving Society Canada where she worked for twelve years, chairperson for the National Convention for the Canadian Ski Association, on the Board of Directors of the Southern Ontario Division, the Canadian Ski Museum, the Collingwood and District United Way, Alpine Chair for the OFSAA International Ski Federation Ski, working on the Alpine venue for the Special Olympics and co-chaired the Escarpment Caper for ten years raising money for the Southern Ontario Division, National Ski Academy and Georgian Trail. Wendy was a loyal friend, and an incredibly hard working, well organized, reliable volunteer. The ski heritage has suffered a great loss. Wendy was a graduate of Bishop Strachan School and Weller Business College, was a member of Blue Mountain Golf and Country Club and Honorary Member of Osler Bluff Ski Club. A private family service was held at graveside at Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Toronto. Donations in Wendy’s memory may be made to the Collingwood General and Marine Hospital, 456 Hume Street, Collingwood, L9Y 1W9 or a charity of your choice.
A Celebration of Wendy’s life will be held at Blue Mountain Golf and Country Club, 706 10th Line, Collingwood, on Saturday, January 5, 2008 at 5:30 p.m.
Wendy will be remembered within the Wapomeo and Taylor Statten Camps communities for her beauty, grace and skill in the water swimming to music at the height of synchronized swimming’s popularity in the 1950s. She shared her passion for swimming with hundreds of campers and wowed audiences at Wap and Ahmek with her beautiful synchronized routines. She was an all-round camper who excelled in all camp activities.
