Going out on Canoe Trip
Going out on Canoe Trip for the first time can be a bit scary at first but is it ever worth the shot. Taking time out of your busy life to enjoy nature to its fullest not only allows you to relax and regroup for the school year ahead but also reminds you how fortunate we all are in our daily lives. You are able to appreciate your unlimited access to technological resources and easily accessible methods of transportation such as cars and buses. Canoe trip shows you what you are capable of and teaches you how to live the simple life. The number one thing to know before heading out on your first canoe trip is that it is A.OK to be nervous. Here at the Taylor Statten Camps, we hope to encourage campers to try new experiences and keep an open mind. The staff were once new comers as well! They understand and know how to support their campers when embarking on their first trip. Campers learn from their staff the proper tripping skills necessary for a successful and fun trip. The next thing to know is that canoe trip is where you and your cabinmates form the strongest friendships. In order to get from one lake to the next or to complete portages, cabins must work as a team, supporting each other every step of the portage and every stroke of the paddle. Big lakes and long portages are only conquered best as a team. Finally, remember to HAVE FUN! Enjoy every moment out there. Canoe trip is the perfect time to live in the moment. Take pictures, write in a journal, laugh with your friends and enjoy nature it in its purest form.
