Canoe Lake Update
We cannot believe it is already the middle of September. The summer really flew by! We hope everyone has settled back into school and are enjoying what the fall has to
offer. The weather has been beautiful here on Canoe Lake and surprisingly quite warm! The leaves are beginning to change colour and it is truly a beautiful sight.
Although campers have gone home and September Camp has passed, camp has still been busy! In the past 2 weeks, we have had a corporate retreat for a tech company from Toronto as well as a wedding weekend for a wonderful couple.
This week marks the start of some major renovations at Camp Ahmek and Camp Wapomeo. Our fall and maintenance crews are hard at work re-roofing cabins, painting canoes, and closing up the camp. The big projects this fall include a full restoration of the Ahmek canoe docks and the rebuilding of Bantam cabins B3-B6. Wapomeo has also seen some changes, with new stairs on cabins such as House 8! We are very lucky to have a crew of 11 TSC staff here this fall, making the above projects efficient and extra fun.
Fall crew will be finishing up on October 7th however Dave and Leon will continue on to refurbish the green war canoe. It can get very cold up here on Canoe Lake so we appreciate all of Dave and Leon’s time and effort as they work through it to provide us with a beautiful finished product. We cannot wait to see the new cabins, the new dock and the war canoe upon our arrival in the Spring.
As we move forward towards summer 2017, there are some important dates to keep in mind. Our Toronto office will re-open on October 3rd, camper registration will open on November 7th and staff applications will be available at the end of November.
Thanks again to all our campers and staff for an amazing 2016 summer and fall season!
