Canoe 4 COVID – We are proud

Camp teaches us to be resilient. We learn to smile through muddy portages, persevere across windy lakes and to find the joy in living off the grid in the woods of Algonquin Park.

In a summer unlike any other it is hard to find silver linings. When the news of camps across Ontario closing for the summer went public back in May, hundreds of campers and staff were disappointed and pushed to adapt and make new summer plans. Here on the shores of Canoe Lake we are making the most of our time improving our site ( learn more about our improvements here→  ( ) As for our campers/ staff – we love following along their adventures on social media.

We are so proud of the incredible Camp Ahmek staff (Cailan, Georges, Jacob, Nolan, Tim, and Will) who, with very short notice, adapted their plans to create an incredible summer adventure- Canoe 4 Covid. A physical challenge while raising money for a meaningful cause.

Their goal is to raise funds for COVID-19 relief while paddling 60-days across Ontario. They will be travelling over 2,000 kilometres through some of the most remote parts of Ontario. Their goal is to raise $60,000 ($1,000 for each day of the trip) for Food Banks Canada and Indigenious communities across the province.

The boys are halfway through their adventure and it was incredible to see their progress on TV on July 21. TSC alumni and current Ahmek Dad Ben Mulroney interviewed the gang on CTVs Your Morning – a link to the interview can be found here  →

TSC Alumni are ever present- creating a positive impact in the world today. Fun Fact! This TV segment was produced by Camp Wapomeo Alumni Devon Johnson! So many incredible TSC alum – Go TSC Go!

Have you been up to anything exciting this summer? We would love to hear how our TSC Families are persevering through this summer away from Canoe Lake.
